Act 4: Adults made their move; one stood by to cheer while the other circled around and chased a young Swan out to the middle water. But wait! Suddenly, the young Swan turned to face its adversary, and a real battle ensued! A flurry of powerful wings! Honking! Splashing! Churning! The adult fled with the young’un running in hot pursuit! What an incredible turn of events! The adult tired, and landed, but the young’un wouldn’t have it and the chase continued!
Finally, as if by truce, the adult was allowed to rest as the victor assumed the fierce arc-pose of triumph. The Lincoln’s Sparrow sang on cheerily.
