Thursday, June 15, 2023 Trumpeter Swans Drama, and babies Act 5 of 5

Act 5: The triumph was short-lived. The watching adult charged forward, chasing the victor across the pond in another flurry of power until satisfied the job was done. Another fierce arc-pose, truly impressive! Then, it flew to rejoin its mate for yet another stirring celebration, with honking, stretching, head bobbing, and self-congratulations.

I hated to leave this exciting drama. I suspect the subsequent scenes repeated with variations until every Swan was exhausted. When I returned a few hours later, all was peaceful; the Swans fed quietly in the rear of the pond as if nothing had happened.

Happy Birding!

PS: the next day, I saw FOUR cygnets!
