Seward, Alaska
I received word yesterday from Jeff Estes, City of Seward
Electric Department Operations Supervisor, that the swan diverters were being
installed on the power lines on Nash Road by the wetlands. I checked today and
found the dangling, flashing, glow-in-the-dark diverters at work. With a slight
breeze, they even hummed.
Many thanks to Jeff for pursuing early authorization from DOT to
speed up the permit from the 20 working day minimum. Thanks to the electric
department for their research on the right diverters for these high voltage
transmission lines, the linemen, the City, and everyone who contacted the city
with your concerns.
We all hope these diverters will help the swans avoid
the power lines and that there will be no more deaths.
Happy Birding!
