Coincidentally,
a first winter male BRAMBLING was spotted in Bear Creek Lake Park, southwest of
Denver, Colorado on November 19th, creating quite a stir and attracting many carloads of birders.

The
park banned "feeding wildlife" ie spreading bird seed to attract the Brambling, and this created a huge controversy noted on Surfbird: <http://www.surfbirds.com/birdingmail/Mail/CoBirds/1298708?year=2012>.
So
complicated Outside in civilization!
