Wednesday, April 13, 2016 Western Screech Owl

Seward, Alaska

The WESTERN SCREECH OWL was calling around 9 pm at the usual spot on Exit Glacier Road about 1.2 miles from the first bridge. Also heard in the distance, a SAW-WHET OWL beeping, and a GREAT HORNED OWL hooting. Three owl evening! It's light enough at 9 pm that VARIED THRUSHES were competing with owls. The mosquitoes are out, but not yet troublesome.

Earlier, RUBY-CROWNED KINGLETS sang loudly with the VARIED THRUSHES all along Exit Glacier Road.

Happy Owling!
